Scott,

As you mentioned "no business should depend completely upon one outlet for sales. " I agree with you 100%, that is the reason it is always good to look for other alternatives.

I have sold things in eBay and found their fees too costly for my products, so decided to look for alternatives.

I did find recently a new online marketplace worth checking out. Silkfair.com offers an end-to-end solution for e-commerce. I was able to start with an easy to set up online store for free, entirely customizable, and right now there are no listing fees. The store also comes complete with all the tools I need from showcasing my products with videos, as well having a blog and forum for my store.

Best regards,
LA

Great article as usual Scott. I'm hoping that I can get a call aired on the eBay Town Hall this afternoon. Here's the gist of what I'll have to say.

Hello,

Two of the biggest complaints often heard are that ebay sellers don't feel they have any representation in the company and that the company is straying too far from it's auction model.

I'm aware of the new eBay blog starting in April. I think it's a great move, yet the perception is that it's disingenuous because the blogger has never sold anything on eBay.

My question is that wouldn't it make sense for eBay to at least pair this blogger up with a long time eBay seller who is also an experienced blogger? I also think it would be a wonderful thing for eBay and it's sellers to have at least some kind of representation by an experienced licensed auctioneer.

Thanks for your time. I also plan to call into the show.

Your loyal but honest, 9 year eBay veteran Powerseller and licensed Auctioneer,

Walt Kolenda aka Auctionwally
