I received a call the other day from the son of a nearly lifelong (at least it seems like a long time) friend of mine.
My friends son, Keith Bloemendaal is the sales manager of a local fence building contractor company in Raleigh Durham, North Carolina.
Carolina Custom Fences builds high quality custom fences and they are proud of the fact that they have some of the best installers in the area.
Keith Bloemendaal called iBusinessLogic to ask our opinion of the current Carolina Custom Fences website (follow the link above).
As you can see, the current website is a bit bland and really does not engage the public. This is web 1.0 at its best and is about 6-8 years out of date for website design. The owner of the company, Scott, did the best job he could with the tools his web builder gave him, but the results just do not compare with the state of the art today. Read more

Established eBay sellers know the importance of selecting the right "keywords" for the titles of auctions and store listings within eBay. While most eBay sellers may not be aware of the work eBay does "behind the scenes" to make sure each and every one of your listings is optimized throughout the Internet. The work that eBay does assures eBay Stores sellers are the beneficiaries of one of the most effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) tools available today. That tool is eBay.
While the SEO work that you must do as a seller is minimal for your eBay listings. There are very good reasons for you to learn more about SEO and Keyword tools. Relying on eBay to do all of the work for you may not always be the wisest course of action even though it does work most of the time. With the proper understanding and use of keywords and keyword tools you can increase your sales and get your products seen by the people who are searching for them everyday. In addition, if you want to drive traffic to your eBay store or off eBay eCommerce website a proper understanding of SEO and search based marketing is a basic requirement for your business.
I found the keyword tool comparison listed below to be quite interesting and helpful. It has been written by Aaron Wall of the blog SEOTools. While Aaron offers one of these tools on his website, I find it refreshing and encouraging that he spent the time to write this article and gave his honest opinion of a great deal of the keyword tools available today in the marketplace. Blog for Business – Does your company need a blog?

As I was working on this blogs transition to our own hosting and a new wordpress theme... to: www.allbusinessauctions.com/blog ....
I started to think about all of the businesses in the world who could benefit by blogging. I came to the conclusion that there is not a single business I am familiar with which could not benefit by establishing a company blog...
Blogs are simply an amazing way to get your name and information recognized throughout the world. There are many reasons why blogs are beneficial...
- Fastest way to get your site indexed by the search engines
- Best way to increase your rankings in the search engines - fresh content is king
- Gives your audience (customers) a feel for what you do and how you do it. Write your blog as though you were talking directly to your customers.
- Quickest way to get your new information, idea, products known in the world.
If you have not really caught on to the "blogosphere" thing yet, don't think your too late because blogging is still in it's infancy and your company still has time to get in to the mix.
While our blog story here at All Business Auctions may not be typical... and I can not promise your company will have the same experience when establishing a blog... I would like to share a quick run down or the positive results we have experienced since starting this free wordpress.com blog less than 90 days ago.
- Learned volumes about the blogosphere and how a single post in a wordpress blog can be indexed by google in less than 12 hours.
- Gained recognition among like minded business owners in our field.
- Became known as a source of information by major news organizations. (blog post: Quoted in the New York Times technology section).
- Gained international business inquiries through blogging about relevant news in our field. (Inquiry about eBay Stores design work from Romania)
- Won a small blogging award - first place SEOLogs blog contest
- Broadened our company appeal by detailing just a few of the services we can provide and simply writing about the benefits of those services.
- With the move to our own hosting and attaching the blog to our AllBusinessAuctions.com website we will increase the exposure for our company and increase the traffic on our Joomla based website. Fresh relevant content is indexed quickly in the search engines and is the most powerful for SEO tool in the toolbox.
I could increase the list above but after only 90 days online with a "free" wordpress.com blog, I think these are significant points.
Should you look into blogging for your business? While some people blog as a business your company or small business could benefit greatly by blogging for business.
It's a whole lot less expensive than pay per click advertising, or the yellow pages and may not replace either for your business needs... But unlimited indexed content with your company name attached, could not hurt!

Note: Recently we signed up for a service/blogging community called mybloglog. Our official join date was November 12th 2007. MyblogLog is a social networking site for bloggers and it allows like minded bloggers to create groups or communities to see what other bloggers in their niche are doing/writing.
Coincidentally, MyBlogLog was running a contest during the month of November with a significant prize awarded to the blog which gained the most members to it's community during the month.
While we did not win the overall MyBlogLog contest, we were very encouraged by our community growth in such a short time. From November 12th to November 30th 2007 AllBusinessAuctions.Wordpress.com went from a blog rank in the thousands all the way up to a (contest) rank of 133. No where near a win or even honorable mention, but to climb within 133 places of long time established blogs with massive communities already in place and while competing against cash prize incentives and email marketing campaigns designed to boost other blogs standings...
We thought our progress was significant - especially when you consider that we did not employ any outside techniques to gain rank. Only honest content.
We won first place in one of the cash prize incentive contests employed to gain rank by SEOlogs.com and we appreciate the recognition , and the cash from the prize listed below...
In our view the climb to blog #133 in the MyBlogLog contest was a significant and gratifying result after only a little over two weeks in the community!
Thank you MyBlogLog.com members!
SEOLogs has announced our blog a winner!
Congratulations to the final 3 winners of our Contest!

In our previous post we reviewed Trading Assistants & franchise eBay drop store marketing ideas and I promised to detail how and why every Trading Assistant or drop store owner should have an eBay Stores account.
It always amazes me when I consult with franchise owners who are struggling to find that they have not signed up to become an eBay store owner. These franchise drop store owners are struggling to generate profits and eventually they ask for marketing ideas, when one of the smartest marketing tools available on the planet is an eBay Stores account. Why don't these business people take advantage of this opportunity?
Is it the $15.95 per month charge which holds them back? Or is it simply the fact that eBay does not do a good job of explaining why eBay stores are the key to becoming profitable on eBay. Read more

Does your business use eBay as a tool?
This may seem like an odd term for the largest online sales producer on the planet... but in reality, no matter how large or small your business is, eBay is an effective and often under utilized tool.
eBay is not the only tool in your marketing toolbox and even though it is a very effective device, eBay should not be the only tool your company uses to generate online sales. Other tools are more familiar, website marketing, Google Adwords, Amazon.com to name a few.
But why should any business consider using eBay as a part of their online marketing plan? - Numbers - Search - Rankings - Sales - All of the Above Read more
