Note: Recently we signed up for a service/blogging community called mybloglog. Our official join date was November 12th 2007. MyblogLog is a social networking site for bloggers and it allows like minded bloggers to create groups or communities to see what other bloggers in their niche are doing/writing.
Coincidentally, MyBlogLog was running a contest during the month of November with a significant prize awarded to the blog which gained the most members to it's community during the month.
While we did not win the overall MyBlogLog contest, we were very encouraged by our community growth in such a short time. From November 12th to November 30th 2007 AllBusinessAuctions.Wordpress.com went from a blog rank in the thousands all the way up to a (contest) rank of 133. No where near a win or even honorable mention, but to climb within 133 places of long time established blogs with massive communities already in place and while competing against cash prize incentives and email marketing campaigns designed to boost other blogs standings...
We thought our progress was significant - especially when you consider that we did not employ any outside techniques to gain rank. Only honest content.
We won first place in one of the cash prize incentive contests employed to gain rank by SEOlogs.com and we appreciate the recognition , and the cash from the prize listed below...
In our view the climb to blog #133 in the MyBlogLog contest was a significant and gratifying result after only a little over two weeks in the community!
Thank you MyBlogLog.com members!
SEOLogs has announced our blog a winner!
Congratulations to the final 3 winners of our Contest!

Can anyone clean up on eBay?
- If you sell collectibles like this Hummel - You could
- If you find a niche you enjoy - You might
- But if you're a brick and mortar business already - you will!
Brick and mortar retailers, wholesalers, distributors and manufacturers need to be aware that they already have 90% of the required ingredients to become very successful eBay and eCommerce retailers. In house these businesses already have the manpower, the sources of supply, the shipping capabilities and the product knowledge required to become a successful Internet marketing organization.
If you own or work for any kind of brick and mortar business mentioned above... You should look at adding eBay and then eCommerce to your business! Another stream of income could not be a bad thing and the brand exposure worldwide is always a good thing.
Give it a try or ask us for help!

Ball Buddies Anyone? Promotional Products Gone Wild!

No, I am not being rude!
These are Ball Buddies - a trademarked promotional product invented and invested in by a client of ours. Ball Buddies are unique trailer hitch covers which have been pre-set up to accept pad printed promotional advertising. My client (a retired mother) had the vision to make these and bankroll the entire process from trademarking to manufacturing to fulfillment all on her own. She did this because she believed these items would and should sell to Universities, Church Groups, Casinos, Retailers, Hotels, Boat Dealers, RV Dealers or any Promotional marketer. She should have been a little more cautious and possibly she should have done a little more research because in the end she has not been able to sell any of the thousands of units she now has on hand. This client did all of the right things when it comes to inventing, trademarking, UPC coding, brand identification and manufacturing. What she did not do was secure a source to market before spending all of her money on production.
Now she is asking for us to sell her excess inventory on eBay.
I would rather set up a continuing outlet for these products because they are good products and I can see the market for them. Our client is fed up with all of the attorneys and marketing agents and buyers who have all had their hands out along the way, with not one of these "professionals" helping her sell the product. I would rather have set her us an eBay store and an associated website to market her Ball Buddies to the world. Unfortunately her marketing budget is depleted and she cannot afford to move forward with such plans. If we had met this client at the beginning of her journey with Ball Buddies, we may have been able to help her profit a great deal from her ideas and ingenuity. There is actually still a chance...
We have these products listed in our eBay store - All Business Auctions
Maybe we can find a good outlet for our client. Spread the word if you know anyone in the promotional marketplace looking for a unique new item or two... These Ball Buddies are ready to test market and ready for production!
eBay is full of dreams of riches to be had, and this is a case where someone can make some money with the right marketing. Unfortunately for our client unless we can find a buyer who will try the items with the intent of re-ordering on a regular basis.... I really do not see any way for the client to get her investment back.
This is a lesson for anyone who has a great idea...
Remember the Ball Buddies!
Never invest in production, unless and until you have figured out your marketing!

The Demise of eBay Has Been Grossly Exagerated – Long Live eBay!

Why do so many journalists and "experts" feel they must report the demise of eBay on a seemingly daily basis?
I can assure you it will be a long long time before eBay goes the way of the Wooley Mammoth! With more focused searches per day than even google or yahoo (Heck, maybe more than Google and Yahoo Combined), eBay is a long way from extinct. Sure they are top heavy in management and they have some really poor ideas from time to time, but so do Microsoft and Apple... and those top heavy behemouths do not seem to be as endangered or near extinction as some journalists and technology pundits once thought...
- Stick with eBay and use it to your business advantage!
- eBay is a tool, it is advertising, it is a way to market to the world from your small or large storefront or from no store at all!
- Use eBay in good health, just as 5.4 million unique visitors did on a single day last week!
EBay: Nielsen/NetRatings reports 5.4M unique visitors to eBay on Black Friday
Last Updated: 27-November-2007 16:11:00
NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - EBay Inc. said it was the most visited e-commerce site on Black Friday with 5.4 million unique visitors, citing information from Nielsen/NetRatings. EBay also said data from PayPal showed a 33% increase in online payment volume on Black Friday from a year earlier.
EBay said its sites, which include Shopping.com and PayPal, saw an increase in Cyber Monday traffic from a year earlier, with Shopping.com reporting a 28% increase. Traffic to merchants over the entire holiday weekend rose 30% year-over-year.
The company said, however, that the busiest shopping day of the season it still to come. EBay expects to see higher activity on Green Monday, the second Monday in December, as revenue and shopper traffic on Green Monday have outpaced Cyber Monday for the past few years.
Shares of eBay were up 3.5% to $32.08. Christie Rizk cr/jw

Frooition's incredible eBay store design - Pirate PartyOriginally uploaded by All Business Auctions
As you can tell from previous posts I am very enthusiastic about our affiliation with the premier eBay stores designer in Europe and the U.K. - Frooition.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Frooition design of an eBay store is the cross selling capability.
With a eBay stores design powered by Frooition, your store will have features not found in any other advanced or eBay supplied stores package. Your listings will cross sell other listings and your categories will promote other categories - all automatically. Changes can be made on the fly and it all integrates seamlessly with the eBay API.
I am sure I will have ample opportunity to extol the virtues of Frooition here and on our iBusinesslogic.com website in the future. For now, please read the Frooition blog post below, visit their site at www.frooition.com and check out the amazing designs and functionality they have built in to the system.
We are proud to help Frooition and our clients with this incredible package. If you do give them a ring, please tell em Scott Pooler at All Business Auctions sent ya!
At Frooition we are lucky enough to design with such concepts as the Pirate Party Store. With a swashbuckling theme tune to the website and a matching pirate eBay shop design, it is a delight to see these designs come together. I am sure they have recruited plenty of shipmates since the design was installed!
There products include games, activities, chocolates, decorations and even beach party accessories!

We have have just created this new eBay stores design with our DesignLogic team in conjunction with Frooition in the U.K.
Cornerstone Supply is an established brick and mortar supplier of commercial carpet cleaning equipment and cleaning agents, specializing in heavy duty truck mounted carpet cleaning machines.
Our iBusinessLogic team of professionals and solutions will be bringing this company to eCommerce in a big way - starting with an eBay store designed by DesignLogic and powered by Frooition. Listing services provided by AuctionLogic will keep the inventory of this operation online via eBay with a minimal learning curve and maximizing uptime of inventory.
After our initial eBay stores setup and implementation we plan on designing and launching a eCommerce website and blog for this company.
Wish us luck as we hope to provide these types of services for brick and mortar businesses for the foreseeable future.

Why every Trading Assistant and eBay Franchise Drop Store Should have and eBay Stores Account

In our previous post we reviewed Trading Assistants & franchise eBay drop store marketing ideas and I promised to detail how and why every Trading Assistant or drop store owner should have an eBay Stores account.
It always amazes me when I consult with franchise owners who are struggling to find that they have not signed up to become an eBay store owner. These franchise drop store owners are struggling to generate profits and eventually they ask for marketing ideas, when one of the smartest marketing tools available on the planet is an eBay Stores account. Why don't these business people take advantage of this opportunity?
Is it the $15.95 per month charge which holds them back? Or is it simply the fact that eBay does not do a good job of explaining why eBay stores are the key to becoming profitable on eBay. Read more

eBay Drop Store or Trading Assistant Profits Possible as a Business?

With the current condition of the eBay drop store franchise industry, it has become apparent that not everyone who bought into the “owning a business without investing in inventory” sales pitch has actually succeeded as a business.
The question then becomes…Is it possible to operate a profitable business as a full time trading assistant?
The answer is complicated, and on the surface the quick answer would be NO - not without modification of the business plan suggested/promoted by most eBay drop store franchises and used by most Trading Assistants.
I can share this opinion from experience because at one time, I was a master franchise representative for one of the largest eBay drop store chains in America (and 5 other countries). The experience as a franchise rep taught me that the franchisees needed more support to become successful.
The franchisees in our chain were hungry for information about how to improve, how to market and how to make the whole operation profitable. The franchisees and I eventually became disillusioned with the franchise and its marketing/business plan (which will stay nameless) because the franchise was not willing to invest in the continued marketing support of the franchisees. I felt it was in the best interest of the franchise to make an effort to help the existing franchisees with marketing sales and business planning. In my opinion, if the existing franchisees were having trouble being successful, eventually the market would dry up and new franchisees would become difficult to find.
The franchise must be a healthy successful enterprise and all of the people who invested in that franchise must also be... Or the franchise will not survive. This prediction seems to be fulfilling itself and instead of saying I told you so, I decided it would be better to break free and help anyone who is in business as a Trading Assistant or Drop Store operator no matter their prior affiliation.
An eBay trading assistant business or drop store operation is not something which can be canned into a package and set up in a way which will guarantee success. An eBay drop store is not like a McDonald’s or Radio Shack. You can not simply put up a franchise sign and expect people to walk into your store and be comfortable with your brand. eBay is the brand, not XYZ franchise trying to look like eBay.
The American public has turned the corner, they now trust the name eBay. When a third party brand in the form of a franchise is interjected into mix is when the public looses confidence. If you were sold a franchise store and were advised that people would stream in bringing their Rolex watches and Tiffany lamps just because you put up a sign from XYZ franchise… I can imagine that you, like many of the franchisees from my former company, have noticed it just did not happen as you may have been led to believe.
So… What is the Answer? Can a Trading Assistant make a profit? – Yes or No?

If you are disappointed in your auction sales results, maybe you should look at the details you include in your listings (or lack in your listings). Providing your customers with every possible answer to every possible question before they even ask... increases your likelihood of getting a bid.
Remember to include information about the size, weight, overall dimensions etc. People can not always visualize the size of a thing from a flat photograph.
Your photos should be clear and well detailed and your item should appear in those photos against a single color background. I recommend either white (high key), black or dark blue background colors.
Try to get some separation between your item and the background. This will make the item stand out and give it more detail. Our photos are shot in a dedicated studio with professional lighting and a large "light table". But you can use simple materials and lighting to accomplish nearly the same effect.
The point is to give the buyer all of the information they need to make a buying decision. Photographs are the best tools in your auction bag of tricks to accomplish that goal. Great descriptions are almost as important! Read more

eBay Sellers need good accounting practices – Quickbooks Pro Advisors can Help!

As entrepreneurs, most of us (not all) dread the meticulous and repetitive tasks which are the basis of real accounting. There are many ways to handle the task and more reasons to do so in an efficient manner. My solution involved hiring my own accountant and keeping her safe and well cared for within the confines of my offices. Having a QuickBooks Pro Advisor as a part of my company is a very good thing for a sales and marketing type like myself.
I believe in the advantages of having these invaluable resources available so much that I have added an accounting services division to my iBusinessLogic group of businesses. This accounting services division is set up to help other small business owners and eBay sellers. AccountingLogic is a result of a realization and understanding of the challenges which face any small business start up or any business entering the e-commerce realm or eBay. The accounting tasks are challenging to say the least. AccountingLogic, headed up by my accountant Kathy Naranjo is designed as a service for just these types of businesses.
AccountingLogic helps any business set up the books and import data from eBay, Amazon, or your own shopping cart. Part of the service includes designing specific macros for most listing software packages, so the day to day accounting requirements of online sales joined with the normal brick and mortar accounts is done smoothly and with little effort. Kathy's team relies mostly on the power of Quickbooks to help her set up different businesses for online sales accounting but she has many tools at her disposal.
If you do not have this kind of resource in your office or home based business you should really start thinking about what you will do to make sure your business accounting is handled properly. Either you will "Do it Yourself" or will you hire an accountant? Finding an accountant to set up and do the day to day bookkeeping tasks of a small business is sometimes difficult and never inexpensive. This realization tends to lead most small business owners to either ignore the task or to try to do it themselves.
Should any true business person ignore accounting tasks? I believe we all know the answer to this question... Read more
